Sentence Trouble: Better communication in the youth justice system

Our new Sentence Trouble film is for all youth justice practitioners who work with young people – in youth offending teams, the police force, the secure estate or in Magistrates and Crown courts.

More than 60% of the young people you work with will have some kind of speech, language and communication need. The film makes a strong case for better communication skills within the youth justice workforce and calls for changes in the law to ensure young defendants with SLCN have the same rights as witnesses to an intermediary, who can support them to communicate with a police officer or judge.
